Artist Notes

Taken in April 2020 during the first New Zealand CoVID-19 lockdown. With flower shops closed, I looked to our garden for inspiration. Camellias were in season and our hedges were adorned with beautiful white blooms.

Up close, this camellia reminds me of a landscape which I love to paint. The petals form plains that dip and curve, highlighted by the light and softly transitioning into the dark background.
