About the Artwork
I created this artwork in April 2020 during New Zealand's first COVID-19 lockdown.
This still life, featuring white camellias on a chopping board arranged in the style of an Old Masters painting, reflects on life’s fragility. It speaks to how, even as beauty fades or we face loss, there is still beauty to be found if we take a moment to look. The single petal delicately balanced on the edge of the board symbolizes the uncertainty of the times we were living through.
