Artist Statement
Floating White Camellia
Captured in April 2020 during New Zealand’s first COVID-19 lockdown, when flower shops were closed and inspiration was found closer to home. In our garden, camellias were in full bloom, their white petals brightening the hedges.
With more time to pause in my surroundings, I stood still a little longer and appreciated the beauty and detail in nature I'd normally have missed. This graceful camellia caught my eye - resembling a soft, billowy cloud floating by.
