A Closer Look: Floral Art Prints
Floral art has the unique ability to bring the beauty and tranquility of nature into any space. Each of my limited edition floral prints captures this essence with a focus on intricate details and thoughtful compositions. Let’s take a closer look at some of these to explore the stories and elements that make them truly special.
1. Camellia Prints
Reflections of Beauty in Uncertain Times
White Camellias and Skull Ring
Created during New Zealand's first COVID-19 lockdown, this artwork transcends the traditional still life. The white camellias and a skull ring on a rustic chopping board, evoke an Old Masters painting, symbolising both beauty and impermanence. A single petal teeters on the edge, inviting a reflection on life's delicate balance, loss, and the unexpected beauty found in fleeting moments.

Floating White Camellia:
Captured during the same period, this piece represents a more serene reflection. The white camellia, with its soft, billowy petals, appears to float gently against a backdrop of deep, dark greenery. This floral print captures the tranquility and quiet beauty found in moments of stillness, making it perfect for creating a calming atmosphere in any room.

2. Rose Prints
Timeless Elegance and Romantic Charm
Cottage Garden Roses
On a warm summer day, I discovered a Cottage Garden Rose climbing gracefully along the side of an old garden shed. Its buttery soft petals, delicately clustered together, hung like a chandelier in the shadows, exuding quiet elegance. This rose captured the romantic charm of a bygone era, drawing me into its timeless, old-world beauty.

O'Hara Rose - An Ode to the O'Hara Sisters
I chose to photograph this David Austin White O'Hara rose for its beauty and name. Poetic in it's poise - it felt like a fitting ode to my grandmother and her sister - the O'Hara sisters. Stylish beautiful women with warm hearts, just like the centre of this rose.

This beautiful rose effortlessly strikes a glamorous pose, adorned with a golden head of petals and a gown of emerald leaves, with a single water drop resting like a delicate jewel—hinting at stories untold.

3. Hydrangea Prints
Subtle Sophistication and Nostalgic Calm
Hydrangea - Cool Summer Whites
"Hydrangea - Cool Summer Whites" was taken at the height of summer in our garden. A time of blue summer skies and cool white linen. I think this print will add a touch of understated sophistication to any decor, offering a subtle nod to the relaxed atmosphere of summertime.

Hydrangea Portrait
I took this "Hydrangea Portrait" in our garden. Hydrangeas symbolise gratitude, grace, beauty, and abundance. For many, they are a beloved flower that fills gardens and vases in living spaces throughout the summer. The "Hydrangea Portrait" showcases a perfect hydrangea bloom at its peak, one that will adorn your space without wilting or fading.

4. Old Masters-Inspired Prints
Merging Classic Art with Fresh Blooms
Still Life - Tulips, Poppies & Freesias
Inspired by Old Masters paintings, this still life arrangement features tulips, poppies, and freesias in an antique Crown Lynn vase. This piece commemorates the end of Auckland’s extended COVID-19 lockdown, when flower shops were open again.

Blushing Brides
The first time I laid eyes on Blushing Brides, I was captivated by their delicate beauty—the cream and pink petals, almost translucent, and the soft, fluffy centres that seem to bloom with life. This still life photographic print carries the painterly effect of a classic oil painting, merging the timelessness of traditional art with the freshness of the floral display.

Hellebore Winter Rose
Known as the Winter Rose, the Hellebore blooms in New Zealand’s darkest months, offering a quiet promise that spring is near. Steeped in myth and folklore, this flower has a storied past—from ancient Greek battles to legends of witches. The print, styled like an Old Masters painting, uses moody, dramatic lighting to capture its essence as it emerges from the shadows, inviting you to come a bit closer.

Capturing Joy and Simplicity
Daisy Bank
This artwork captures a joyful bank of daisies set against a darker background, allowing each bloom to pop with vibrancy. Hidden daisies peek from the depths, adding a layer of intrigue and discovery. Reminiscent of childhood moments spent weaving daisy chains, these flowers embody playfulness, cheerfulness, and quiet resilience. Their bright, delicate petals remind us that even the simplest blooms have the power to bring a smile.

Hoya Heirloom #1 & #2
The Hoya Heirloom is a true piece of living history. It was originally gifted to my mother over 50 years ago by her mother. I have memories of this beautiful plant as a child tasting the sweet nectar when it bloomed. This Hoya portrait showcases the intricate beauty of its star-shaped blooms. It encapsulates the enduring charm of an heirloom that has been treasured and nurtured for decades.
